Futian District launches anti-fraud warning map
    2020-11-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN online anti-fraud warning map through which citizens can learn about cases of telecom fraud and gain targeted knowledge to prevent fraud was officially put into use Wednesday, according to DT News.

The map, launched by the Futian District Public Security Sub-bureau, will enable citizens to keep up to date with the newest cases of fraud and provide an analysis of the latest fraud techniques used in various cases.

Citizens can also have a clear picture of the distribution of fraud cases in areas under the jurisdiction of 15 police stations in Futian District.

At present, the map can be accessed through the official WeChat account of “Futian Police” (futianjingcha) or Southern Metropolis Daily App, or by scanning a specific QR code.

Yang Jianbo, deputy head of the Futian public security sub-bureau, said that while cracking down aggressively on telecom fraud, Futian police have focused on some key groups such as the middle-aged and elderly people, students and young single people.

“In order to safeguard citizens’ ‘money pocket,’ we have been promoting targeted anti-fraud publicity in various forms both online and offline,” Yang said.

According to official statistics, noncontact fraud accounted for 44.3 percent of the total police cases in Futian District from January to October this year, which has become the major category of criminal cases in the district.

The most common forms of fraud involved investment loans, impersonation, online shopping and recruitment, accounting for 71.4 percent of the total cases in Futian.
