Road dust, noise draw complaint
    2020-11-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A CITIZEN surnamed Li reported Monday that residents living near Xinzhang Road in Guanlan, Longhua District, have been troubled by road dust, noise pollution and uneven road surfaces, according to Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

On a field visit to Xinzhang Road, the reporter with the Daily found that engineering vehicles and dump trucks were passing frequently, causing dust clouds. The citizens who passed by had to cover their noses and walk quickly.

Moreover, the road surface is sunken and cracked in large areas. Though the vehicles were passing slowly, they made a huge amount of noise on the bumpy road.

According to citizens, in addition to the dust and noise, the nearby cement plant and quarry also produce dust quite frequently. The severely damaged road also poses a great risk to people’s travel safety.

It is hoped that relevant departments can take measures to repair the road surface and reduce dust and noise as soon as possible, so as to provide a safe and healthy living environment for the neighborhood, citizens said.

The reporter spoke of the situation to the Guanhu Subdistrict Office of Longhua via phone call. Staff members at the Zhangkengjing community work station, which has jurisdiction over Xinzhang Road, replied that it has also received related complaints from a nearby school and surrounding residents.

The staffers said that currently there are indeed many engineering vehicles passing on Xinzhang Road, which makes a huge amount of dust. The main reasons are that there is a concrete-mixing station nearby and the road surface is seriously damaged.

The community work station will increase the frequency of water-spraying to control the dust in the short term, it said. Additionally, there are plans for the road to be rebuilt next year and the work station will coordinate the relocation of the concrete-mixing station. (Zhang Yu)
