Man’s ‘cracking’ lockdown idea fools hundreds
    2020-11-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A GROUP of lads that booked a cheap flight so they could meet up for a drink have been branded “legends” but it’s not what it seems.

Paul Strain, from Belfast, the U.K., couldn’t bear to be apart from his friends any longer amid the coronavirus lockdown, so he decided to come up with a sneaky plan.

Strain booked a cheap flight at Belfast International Airport so that he could meet up with the boys for a drink, reports Belfast Live.

He wrote: “When the pubs are closed and the only place serving is the airport so you & your mates book a £9.99 (US$13) flight (that you’re not getting on) so you can all go on the sesh!... #wheretheresawilltheresaway.”

He even tagged the location of the post at Belfast International Airport, claiming he was accompanied by two pals Michael Haden and Nathan Sanders.

The post quickly swept the Internet, with many people calling the trio “legend.”

But Strain has now revealed that the post was actually a spoof.

He told Belfast Live: “I’ve had hundreds of people who’ve asked if it was legit and I didn’t know if I wanted to burst the bubble!

“But no, it was just an absolute cracking spoof, and I think we’ve managed to get half of Northern Ireland with it.

“If you look at my Facebook, it’s all about having a few jokes and not taking life too seriously.

“So with this post we decided to add a bit of fun to the day — we didn’t think it would get the response that it did.

“But here, it’s definitely got us and a few hundred other people out there thinking maybe we should be checking easyJet for cheap flights!” (SD-Agencies)
