YOUNG actress Leah Lewis, who starred in Netflix’s “The Half of It,” has joined the voice cast of “The Tiger’s Apprentice,” Paramount Animation’s adaptation of the best-selling children’s book. Henry Golding, Sandra Oh, and Michelle Yeoh are already on the call sheet for the project, which sees Carlos Baena, a Pixar animator who worked on “Wall-E” and “Toy Story 3,” making his feature directing debut. The book, written by Lawrence Yep and published by HarperCollins in 2003, told of a boy in San Francisco who meets a shape-shifting talking tiger named Mr. Hu and under his tutelage and protection is introduced into a magical world that includes an ancient phoenix, a dragon and a clan of evil-doers. Lewis, 24, will play Rav, a girl who comes to the boy looking for aid. Davig Magee (“Life of Pi”), Harry Cripps and Kyle Jarrow worked on the script, which adapts the first book in the trilogy. Paramount plans to release it Feb. 10, 2023. Lewis scored a major career boost with her breakout in “Half of It,” which debuted in May after first bowing at the Tribeca Film Festival where it won the Founders Award for best U.S. narrative feature. The actress also appeared on CW’s “Nancy Drew” where she plays the teen sleuth’s constant nemesis.(SD-Agencies) |
