ZHIJI Motor, a high-end smart electric vehicle brand, has been launched by leading Chinese automaker SAIC Motor, Shanghai’s Pudong New Area and e-commerce giant Alibaba Group in Shanghai.

The project is expected to see investment of 10 billion yuan (US$1.5 billion). It will focus on technological innovation and application, with a brand-new operating model that seeks to “break the boundaries between users and enterprises,” according to a source with SAIC Motor.

Pudong New Area will bring core technology resources, such as artificial intelligence and computer chips at its world-class high-tech industrial cluster Zhangjiang High-tech Park, while Alibaba will use technologies including big data and cloud computing to empower the new brand.(Xinhua)
