Hit the right note 言行得体,恰到好处
    2020-12-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: How was the job interview yesterday?

B: I’m not sure if I’ve acted too agressive. It’s tricky trying to hit the right note during an interview, when you’re trying to sell yourself while remaining relatable.

Note: This idiom, literally meaning “to perform every note correctly of a music piece,” is a metaphor for “being perfectly suitable for a particular situation or circumstance; getting it exactly right.” For example: The commercial hit the right note with its target audience, and was one of the most highly rated spots of the year. People also use “to strike the right/wrong note,” meaning “to say or do something in exactly the right (or wrong) way.
