Industrial robot production surges

CHINA’S industrial robot production surged 38.5 percent year on year in October to 21,467 units, official data showed.

In the first 10 months of the year, the country produced a total of 183,447 industrial robots, up 21 percent from a year ago, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed. During the January-October period, China’s major industrial robot makers with an annual business income of at least 20 million yuan (US$3.05 million) raked in 39.62 billion yuan in revenue, up 2.3 percent year on year, the data showed.

China Southern receives ARJ21 regional jetliner

CHINA Southern Airlines, the country’s largest air carrier, received its third ARJ21 regional jetliner Friday, according to Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China (COMAC), the plane’s developer.

Sporting the registration number of B-650K, the ARJ21 aircraft conducted a ferry flight from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and landed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. COMAC has now delivered 41 ARJ21 airplanes to customers. COMAC is also the developer of the single-aisle trunkliner C919. Guangzhou-headquartered China Southern is the largest airline in Asia, with a fleet of more than 860 airplanes by the end of 2019.

Major Internet firms log higher revenue

CHINA’S Internet and related sectors have registered double-digit growth in business revenue in the first 10 months of the year, official data showed.

Major Internet companies raked in 1.01 trillion yuan (US$154.18 billion) in the January-October period, up 13.1 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. During the period, the operating profit of the industry grew by 8.8 percent year on year to 98.65 billion yuan, while the sector’s spending on research and development totaled 61.98 billion yuan, 15.6 percent higher than a year ago.

Bike exports touch 25-year high

CHINA’S bike exports hit US$1.1 billion during the third quarter, the highest quarterly tally in 25 years, buoyed by booming overseas demand.

From January to September, China’s output of bikes and electric bikes both posted double-digit growth, data from the General Administration of Customs showed. Some domestic bicycle factories have operated at full capacity since June, but still failed to fill orders.
