City tests 175,200 frozen product samples
    2020-12-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE centralized warehouse in Longgang District has completed 175,200 nucleic acid sample tests on imported frozen products since it was put into use this August. One batch of the products — 1,390 items in total — tested positive for coronavirus, sources from the Shenzhen Municipal Market Supervision and Regulation Bureau said.

All the goods entering and leaving the warehouse can be traced backwards along the supply chain and forwards along the distribution chain under the global tracking system developed by Optima Integration Group.

The city took the lead in China and put into operation a centralized warehouse in Longgang District, for package disinfection and nucleic acid testing of selected samples of imported frozen products before being distributed for storage, sales and processing.

The move is aimed to reduce the risks of public infection by the coronavirus and to cut the spread of the virus to the greatest extent.

By Dec. 14, a total of 116,300 tons of frozen products had gone through the warehouse for checks. The goods in the warehouse can only be distributed after passing checks and tests, and having obtained certificates. Goods without the certificates will not be allowed to be kept, sold or processed.

In a report to Lin Jie, chairwoman of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, on her inspection trip to the warehouse, the market supervision bureau said the warehouse handles about 4,000 tons of imported frozen products a day.

The market supervision bureau started compiling a local standard and guidance for management and operation of a centralized warehouse of imported frozen products recently. Based on the practices of Shenzhen, the guidance will provide references for other regions in China to operate centralized warehouses safely and efficiently.
