MORE than 200 young scholars from around the globe attended the first International Cloud Forum for Young Scholars organized by Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU) on Friday.

Due to the pandemic, the forum was held online and attracted scholars from universities such as the University of Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Toronto and the Peking University.

Zhu Dijian, vice rector of SMBU, said that the holding of the forum is in an aim to build a platform for young talented people with different academic backgrounds to exchange on hot research topics and to promote related cooperation.

Sergey Shakhray, first vice rector of SMBU, hopes that the forum would not only be a permanent platform for both experienced and young scholars from different countries and with different majors to share knowledge but also to be a window to the school’s achievements as well as a place to provide young people opportunities to help build their careers in science education.

Li Hezhang, rector of SMBU, observed that university is a place full of knowledge and an innovation gateway for scientific discoveries. Li believed that SMBU, as the first cooperative university between China and Russia, has a unique advantage in its location and great potential for future development.

It was suggested at the forum that SMBU is aiming to build a group of world-class laboratories and research centers for subjects including computational mathematics, cybernetics, biology, chemistry, material science, radiochemistry and supercomputing.

Li welcomed young talented people and scientists to join the school to achieve goals and dreams together, to deepen education cooperation between China and Russia and to enhance the friendship between the people of the two countries.
