    2021-01-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE design by Miralles Tagliabue EMBT + HYP Arch Design has won first prize at the International Competition for Architectural Design of the Shenzhen Conservatory of Music, one of the 10 new cultural facilities of Shenzhen, according to a release on the official website of Shenzhen Public Works Bureau.

Four other participants, namely, Vector Architects + AUBE, Barozzi/Veiga GmbH + HSArchitects, IPPR + Arkkitehtitoimisto ALA Oy, Ennead Architects LLP + CSCEC Northeast, won second prizes.

The Shenzhen Conservatory of Music will be located inside the International University Park, Longgang District, and neighboring Shenzhen MSU-BIT University.

The project covers 73,800 square meters and the floor area will be 129,700 square meters. At a total investment of 1.75 billion yuan (US$270 million), the conservatory will be an internationalized, innovation-based, world-leading conservatory and managed by CUHK-Shenzhen.

It will fill the gap of Shenzhen’s higher education in music and arts, promote the exchange of cultural resources and talent in the Greater Bay Area, and cultivate music and art talents for the Greater Bay Area and the country.

The core design contents include classrooms, practice studios, a library, dormitories, performance auditoriums (including a 700-seat A-level competition theater, a 500-seat music hall and a 200-seat rehearsal hall), and science research space (including music technology center, music management center and music therapy center).

From 45 teams in the preliminaries, a total of nine design teams, including four invited teams and five selected, entered the final stage of the competition, which was organized by Shenzhen Public Works Bureau.(Han Ximin)
