HK’s home sales

HONG KONG’S property market is showing signs of strength, with weekend home sales reaching an eight-year high.

The 10 biggest housing estates tracked by Centaline Property Agency Ltd. recorded 37 transactions in the past weekend, a number unseen since 2013, according to the firm.

FTZ in Heilongjiang

THE free trade zone (FTZ) in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang Province had attracted 196 projects with a total investment of 228.2 billion yuan (US$35.3 billion) as of the end of 2020, according to the provincial economic planner.

The province’s total foreign trade reached 153.7 billion yuan in 2020, with exports growing 3.2 percent year on year to 36.09 billion yuan.

Freight trains

A TOTAL of 6,072 China-Europe freight trains have passed through the border port of Erenhot in North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region since 2013, according to the local customs.

The trains carried about 4.82 million tons of goods worth over 90 billion yuan, said Erenhot customs, which has been handling China-Europe freight trains since 2013.

Pickup truck sales

THE country’s pickup truck market registered robust growth in January, industry data showed.

A total of 47,000 units were sold last month, 70 percent higher than the same period last year, according to the China Passenger Car Association. Pickup trucks, which combine the features of passenger and commercial vehicles, have become increasingly popular in the country in recent years. In 2020, total sales of pickup trucks in China increased by 9 percent from the previous year, the data showed.
