Shenzhen boasts a huge wealth of rich wildlife with unique natural conditions.

As of February this year, Shenzhen had a total of 585 types of terrestrial wild vertebrates, including 15 types of first-class national protected animals such as black-faced spoonbills and Chinese pangolins; and 77 types of second-class national protected animals like macaques.

These animals are living at Shenzhen Bay, Wutong Mountain, Qiniang Mountain, Paiya Mountain, Tiantou Mountain, Yangtai Mountain, Tanglang Mountain, Neilingding Island, etc.

Wild animals unique to Shenzhen include two frog, species Amolops albispinus and Leptobrachella laui AmphibiaWeb.

At the same time, Shenzhen has around 2,080 types of wild plants with a vascular system, including 16 types of national protected wild plants such as cycas fairylakea, cyathea podophylla and blinding tree (Excoecaria agallocha).

These plants mostly grown in areas, including Wutong Mountain, Sanzhoutian Reservoir, Qiniang Mountain, Yangtai Mountain and Neilingding Island.

On World Wildlife Day, the bureau also organized a series of activities at Shenzhen Safari Park, public schools and kindergartens in the city to spread wildlife-related knowledge.
