SZ plans to build marine high-tech development zone
    2021-03-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN Mayor Chen Rugui made suggestions on developing Shenzhen’s marine economy during the Guangdong delegation’s deliberation on the draft outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 on Sunday.

Chen said that “the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and the draft of the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 is in line with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The plans were formulated around the new development stage, the new development concept, and the new development pattern requirements. They are scientific planning of development strategies for the 14th Five-Year period and beyond. The goal setting is very reasonable, the ideas and measures are very foresighted, and the high-quality development orientation is very apparent, showing the country’s incredibly bright and wonderful development prospects. Our national pride and confidence are strengthening. We must reinforce our confidence in the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.”

Chen said that Shenzhen will rush to seize the opportunities presented by the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the city’s building into a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Shenzhen aims to take the lead in fully building China as a modern socialist country.

Chen proposed establishing marine high-tech development zones attracting high-end resources to foster and expand the marine economy and support building China into a maritime power.

Also, he suggested creating a pilot project for statistics and accounting of data production factors and cultivating the data factors market to lead the digital economy development.

According to the city’s action plan for 2020-2025, Shenzhen is aiming to become a global center for sustainable development of a marine economy, culture and ecology, and an important representative city for China’s “blue power” by 2025.

The relevant measures include 63 demonstrative marine projects in ocean engineering equipment, electronic information, biomedicine and resource exploration.
