Authority responds to shared bikes’ improper parking
    2021-03-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Bao’an branch of the Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau recently responded to a resident’s report about hundreds of Hello Bikes improperly parked on the sidewalks in Bao’an District.

On Tonggubao Road in Xixiang Subdistrict, a 300-meter sidewalk section was filled with shared bikes, which were not available to use.

According to the resident surnamed Liu, he once tried to use these bikes, but the app showed the bikes cannot be used due to a malfunction.

“The sidewalk is narrow. Parking shared bikes here is likely to cause inconvenience and safety hazards to people,” Liu told a reporter with oeeee.com.

The reporter also scanned the QR codes of some bikes, finding them unavailable for use and unregistered with the city’s transport bureau.

After investigation, the Bao’an transport bureau said Hello Bike sent 486 new bikes to Tonggubao Road after the city’s transport bureau approved the company’s request to replace its bicycles batch by batch.

The 486 new bikes arrived in Bao’an District on Monday evening ahead of schedule and were parked temporarily on Tonggubao Road after reporting to the district bureau. But the company did not registered the bikes with the authority immediately.

The district bureau has required the firm to complete registration and move the bikes to their service locations within 24 hours. Meanwhile, the authority has demanded the firm to avoid repeating similar situations.

The 486 bicycles were expected to be registered and put into operation yesterday afternoon. (Xia Yuanjie)
