COVID-19 vaccination Q&A
    2021-04-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Q: When did COVID-19 vaccination for foreigners as well as Hong Kong and Macao residents living in Guangdong Province start in Shenzhen?

A: Shenzhen started inoculating these two groups of people yesterday.

Q: Among these two groups of people, who are eligible to receive the vaccines?

A: Foreigners as well as Hong Kong and Macao residents who are aged 18 to 59. Some aged 60 and above who are in good health condition and need the vaccine for special reasons, can get vaccinated voluntarily.

Q: Is the vaccination free of charge?

A: Foreigners who are covered by the provincial medical insurance program can receive COVID-19 vaccines free of charge in Shenzhen.

Hong Kong and Macao residents can get vaccinated for free by presenting either their mainland residence permits issued by public security authorities or proof of enrollment in mainland medical insurance programs. Teachers and students from Hong Kong and Macao working or studying in Guangdong can also be inoculated for free.

Those who don’t meet the free vaccination requirements will be charged 100 yuan (US$15.28) per dose.

Q: How can I make an appointment for the vaccine?

A: Those ready to take the vaccine can make a reservation on the WeChat miniprogram “粤健通.” There are specific sections on the miniprogram for foreigners and Hong Kong and Macao residents to make an appointment. The “Guangdong COVID-19 Service for Foreigners” section is for foreigners.

After login, applicants should fill in personal information. Once booked successfully, the applicants can get vaccinated at the appointed time and site.

Q: Where can I receive the vaccine shots?

A: There are seven designated COVID-19 vaccination sites for foreigners, Hong Kong and Macao residents in Shenzhen, including the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, Shenzhen Luohu People’s Hospital, Shenzhen Shekou People’s Hospital, Shenzhen Bao’an People’s Hospital (Jian’an Division), Longgang District Central Hospital of Shenzhen, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (Shenzhen), and Shenzhen Samii Medical Center.

Q: Can I make a reservation on site?

A: Though an online appointment is recommended, an on-site reservation is also acceptable in the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. As to the other six designated vaccination sites, it is suggested that the applicants consult the hospitals first.

Q: What type of vaccine will I receive?

A: The COVID-19 vaccine currently used in Shenzhen is the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (Vero Cell) domestically produced. Two doses will be given to the recipients.

Q: What is the vaccination process?

A: Prior to the inoculation, vaccine recipients have to cooperate with the staff of the vaccination site to complete the prescribed procedures, honestly disclose their health status, truthfully answer the medical staff’s questions, and sign the Informed Consent and Disclaimer Statement. Medical workers will determine whether they are eligible for vaccination. Those who get a shot are required to stay at the vaccination site for 30 minutes for observation. (Zhang Yu)
