AS the digital gap widens in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, enterprises who leverage technologies to embrace the changes brought by the health crisis will define the future, according to the Technology Vision 2021 Report published by global consulting firm Accenture in its Shenzhen innovation hub Tuesday.

In the report, the firm has predicted the key technology trends that will shape businesses and industries over the next three years.

“The global pandemic pushed a giant fast forward button to the future. Many organizations stepped up to use technology in extraordinary ways to keep their businesses and communities running, while others faced the stark reality of their shortcomings, lacking the digital foundation needed to rapidly pivot,” said Paul Daugherty, Accenture’s chief technology and innovation officer, in a video.

Accenture surveyed more than 6,200 business and technology leaders, including 250 enterprise executives from China, for the Technology Vision report.

According to the survey, 92 percent of the respondents reported that their organization is innovating with an urgency and call to action this year, and 91 percent of the executives agree capturing tomorrow’s market will require their organization to define it.

The report outlined five key trends that companies will need to address over the next three years to accelerate and master changes in all parts of their business.

The trends identified by Accenture include building future-oriented IT system architecture, increasing investment in intelligent digital twins, promoting technology democratization, shifting from a “Bring Your Own Device” to “Bring Your Own Environment” workforce approach, and building multiparty systems for greater resilience and adaptability.
