SHENZHEN once again took the crown as the most attractive city for talents among major Chinese cities in 2020, according to the China Urban Vitality Research Report released by Baidu Maps recently.

In light of Baidu Map’s massive location service data, POI (point of interest) big data and transportation big data, the report revealed Chinese cities’ performance in attracting talents in 2020 and unveiled for the first time the talent attraction index rankings of 300 Chinese cities.

According to the report, nine of the top 10 most attractive cities for talents in China are southern cities. Beijing is the only northern city that made it into the top 10.

Hangzhou, an e-commerce hub in East China, has seen a rise in the inflow of talents coming from Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing.

The top three most attractive cities for talents in 2020 are Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Dongguan, all of which are located in Guangdong Province. Dongguan edged higher by one spot to the third place compared with 2019.

In 2020, the top 10 Chinese cities that performed well in attracting young people are Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shanghai, Suzhou, Beijing, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou and Chongqing, as per the report.

Beijing dropped two places compared with last year, while Zhengzhou moved to the eighth place, up three places from last year’s ranking. (Zhang Yu)
