A SPECIAL area for exhibition and promotion of international professional services was set up as a new session for this year’s CIEP at Hall 1 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center over the weekend.

The 2,000-square-meter area includes booths of Shenzhen’s 13 international talent communities introducing their services for international talents.

The city has designated an institution and 12 subdistricts to pilot International Talent Community programs in a move to attract world-class talents to ensure its future development.

Under the program initiated by the municipal talent affairs bureau, each subdistrict is making efforts to set up service centers at communities that can offer one-stop foreigner-related services like accommodation registration, consulting about visas, work permits application and renewals and can organize activities and create an environment conducive to luring talents.

International volunteers from Bao’an District’s Xin’an International Talent Community who served at the community’s booth spoke highly of the city’s move to create international talent communities.

“The community and the school I am working at helped me gain qualified government subsidies and visa, which is very helpful. Joining the community, we also learn more about the Chinese culture. I am very interested and want to spread it to other countries around the world,” Francis Kwesi Hagan, one of the leaders of Bao’an International Youth Volunteers Service Station, told Shenzhen Daily.

Milan Bralovic from Serbia said that Xin’an community provides a place for him to meet people of different countries and backgrounds. “Many foreigners come to Shenzhen for opportunities in the high-tech industry as many big names like Tencent are based here. The community gives you chances to meet new people for new business opportunities,” said Bralovic.

Xin’an Subdistrict strives to build a favorable area for international talents to work and live in.

The exhibition area also displays the achievements of the city’s International Block Initiative and provides job information.
