Tesla raises prices, develops platform accessible to car owners
    2021-05-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TESLA Inc. raised the price of a Model 3 sedan in China by 1,000 yuan (US$155) from Saturday, citing cost fluctuations.

The basic model of the vehicle is now priced at 250,900 yuan, the automaker said in a post on its Weibo social media account.

Tesla has also said it was developing a platform for car owners in China that will allow them to access data generated by their vehicles.

Tesla aims to launch the data platform this year, it said in a statement.

This is the first time an automaker has announced plans to allow customers to access car data in China, the world’s biggest car market.

Automakers have been equipping more vehicles with cameras and sensors to capture images of a car’s surroundings in recent years. Control of the usage, transmission and storage of these images is a rapidly developing challenge for the industry and regulators worldwide.

China last month published draft rules to ensure the security of data generated by smart cars. Data collected from Tesla electric cars in China is stored in the country, a company executive said last month.

Meanwhile, Tesla told a California regulator that it may not achieve full self-driving technology by the end of this year.(SD-Agencies)
