KCC Glass Corp. has established its first overseas glass production plant in Indonesia, setting foot on the Southeast Asian market in line with its long-term goal of global expansion.

According to KCC Glass, the company has held a board meeting and decided to establish a glass production plant in the Batang Industrial Complex in Java, central Indonesia.

KCC Glass is scheduled to hold a groundbreaking ceremony May 20 at the Indonesian factory site to be attended by the company and Indonesian government officials.

The glass production plant is expected to be completed in 2024 with a total scale of 490,000 square meters and is expected to produce about 438,000 tons of flat glass for construction annually upon completion.

The establishment of the Indonesian plant is expected to be an important turning point for KCC Glass to become a global company apart from its domestic market-oriented business as a top glass producing company in South Korea.

In particular, the Southeast Asian construction market shows high marketability, recording a growth rate of about twice that of the global construction market. Thus, many South Korean companies are already entering the local market.
