Civilized behaviors underpin city’s urban development
    2021-05-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN received 2.69 million tourists during the May Day holiday. With citizens and tourists lining up and complying with the epidemic prevention measures, civilized sightseeing has become a norm, according to Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Volunteers have played an important role in the promotion of civilized travel. Shenzhen’s tourism volunteer team arranged several batches of volunteers to the city’s popular scenic spots such as Happy Valley, Splendid China • Folk Culture Villages and Window of the World to provide services for tourists.

The volunteers have publicized the concept of safe and civilized travel by clearing roadside garbage.

Additionally, a number of themed volunteer activities were also carried out during the May Day holiday by several volunteer teams at places such as Splendid China • Folk Culture Villages, Shekou Cruise Home Port and Shenzhen Safari Park.

This year, Shenzhen has also pledged to regulate uncivilized behaviors, including random parking of shared bikes, not following garbage sorting regulations and not wearing helmets when riding e-bikes, according to the Daily.

Last month, Shenzhen released for the first time the annual implementation theme of the code of civilized behavior and the list of uncivilized behavior rectification.

In 2021, Shenzhen will focus on the three themes of shared bikes, garbage sorting, and civilized transportation to tackle 11 uncivilized behaviors and will strive to eliminate uncivilized behaviors through targeted centralized rectification.

Various districts in Shenzhen have also taken actions to promote civilized behaviors. For instance, Futian District launched a series of thematic activities in schools. Nanshan District mobilized thousands of Party cadres, Party members and volunteers to advocate road safety.

Longhua District, before the May Holiday, set up for the first time a volunteer service team to promote holistic tourism.
