LIN JIE was elected as chairwoman of the Seventh Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) yesterday as the city’s political advisory body concluded its annual session.

At a media briefing following the annual session, Lin led eight vice chairpersons and the secretary-general to meet the media representatives at Shenzhen Auditorium in Futian District.

Tian Fu, Wu Yihuan, Chen Qianwen, Wang Daping, Jiang Jianjun, Wang Hongbin, Qiao Hengli and Wang Youpeng were elected as vice chairpersons. Liang Zengchang was elected as secretary-general.

“Keeping General Secretary Xi Jinping’s words in mind, we will shoulder new missions in a new era. We will turn the heavy historical responsibilities on our shoulders into a great impetus to move forward. We will unite together, forging ahead courageously. Through the leadership of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and based on the solid foundations laid down by the previous CPPCC leadership, we will remain firm in our political convictions, setting an example by practicing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. We will strive to write a new chapter for the development of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC,” said Lin.

Lin, born in April 1963, is a native of Yingde, Guangdong Province. She entered the workforce in July 1980 and joined the CPC in May 1988.

After graduating from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a major in business administration, she had an in-service postgraduate education and holds a Master of Business Administration degree.

She was elected as chairwoman of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC at the Seventh Session of the Sixth Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC in September last year, and currently serves as chairwoman and Party chief of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPPCC.
