China-Guam Cup qualifier tickets sold out
    2021-05-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE tickets to China’s World Cup qualifier against Guam on May 30 in Suzhou, China’s Jiangsu Province, have been sold out.

As tickets to the four remaining Asian zone Group A World Cup qualifier games were released online Tuesday, all tickets to the Guam game have been sold out, as well as the four-game package tickets, according to online ticketing platform Damai.cn. It was reported that around 30,000 spectators will be allowed to attend each game.

China will face Guam, the Philippines, the Maldives, and Syria in succession from May 30 to June 15.

With eight points adrift of group leader Syria and only leading the Philippines on goal difference, China will have to keep a perfect record in the last phase as any loss or draw in the last four games would likely eliminate the side from the competition.

Chinese Football Association (CFA) president Chen Xuyuan has vowed that the men’s team will go all out to reach the final round of the Asian zone 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

He also confirmed that the CFA has earmarked prize money totaling 12 million yuan (US$1.8 million) to motivate the team.

Meanwhile, Espanyol striker Wu Lei has returned to China from Barcelona to prepare for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The 29-year-old, who landed in Shanghai on Tuesday night, is expected to join the Chinese team later yesterday.

He posted a picture on social media showing that he and his daughter were waiting in an airport Tuesday.

“For the country, and for the family,” read the caption of the picture.

Wu missed all the Chinese side’s six training camps held since its head coach Li Tie took over in January 2020.
