Man who dropped suitcase from residential building detained
    2021-06-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN who dropped a suitcase from the 10th floor of a residential building at midnight Tuesday was detained by the police, according to Southern Metropolis Daily.

A citizen, surnamed He, reported the incident that happened in a residential compound called Vanke Xingcheng in Bao’an District.

According to He, the man threw the suitcase from the 10th floor during a heated quarrel with his girlfriend. Fortunately, no passers-by were injured.

Li Wanggang, a staffer of the property management office in the community, said that they discovered the suspect through video surveillance, which showed that the man went to get the suitcase after the incident.

According to Li, residents living on the lower floors reported to the property management office after hearing the large noise caused by the suitcase. The office called the police in a timely manner and assisted in the questioning of the suspect.

The case is under further investigation.

To record the situations of falling objects, each building in the community had been equipped with two surveillance cameras. A surveillance camera once caught a turtle falling from over 30 stories high.

People throwing objects from high places will be held accountable and punished accordingly for criminal liability, according to law.
