Mechanical systems to provide more parking spaces
    2021-06-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE under-construction mechanical parking systems of Dalang Commercial Center in Longhua District can provide 1,164 parking spaces, with the first batch of 144 parking spaces already been put into service, sznews.com reported, quoting the Longhua division of the city’s transport bureau.

Dalang Commercial Center covers an area of 190,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 360,000 square meters. As one of the most popular commercial centers in Longhua, it boasts average foot traffic of over 100,000 shoppers per day.

However, the shortage of nearly 1,600 parking spaces has left the commercial center in a predicament, as merchants and consumers have groaned about how inconvenient it is to park their vehicles.

To address the acute shortage of parking spaces, Dalang Commercial Center has planned to build multi-level mechanical parking systems with a total of 1,164 parking spaces in Phase I.

The new parking facilities will be set up in the open spaces of the commercial center, covering a total area of some 4,999 square meters, with an average area of less than 4 square meters per parking space.

At present, 12 mechanical parking systems have been put into use in the commercial center, providing 144 full-size parking spaces. It is expected that another 384 parking spaces will be available by the end of August and the remaining 636 spaces will be put into use in the near future.

The commercial center also plans to apply for Phase II of the parking facility project.

Intelligent parking and management are highlights of the mechanical parking systems, according to the sznews.com report.

A vehicle owner can book a parking space and pay the parking fee online, which can reduce the waiting time getting in and out of the space, while the operator of the parking facility can realize unmanned management and intelligent maintenance. (Zhang Yu)
