STARTING today, travelers leaving Guangdong via Shenzhen by plane, train, bus and boat no longer need to present negative COVID-19 test results obtained within 48 hours before departure, said Vice Mayor Tao Yongxin at a news conference held last night at the Civic Center in Futian District.

The city has cleared all areas with medium and high COVID-19 infection risks, he said.

However, travelers still need to wear masks, show green health codes and undergo body temperature checks  before departure, according to the conference.

The same rules also apply to people leaving the province via neighboring  Dongguan City, according to information released by the provincial COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control command office yesterday, as the Dongguan campus of Guangzhou Xinhua University in Machong Township was downgraded to low-risk for COVID-19 transmission yesterday morning.

So far, all medium and high COVID-19 risk areas in Guangdong have been cleared.

The eased travel restrictions on Shenzhen and Dongguan followed an announcement by the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission on Saturday that people leaving Guangzhou and Foshan no longer need to show negative nucleic acid test results obtained within 48 hours to leave the province.

Shenzhen has cleared its last medium COVID-19 risk area, with the Xinlantian Apartment  building located at 71 Xiashiwei Commercial and Residential Street in Fuyong Subdistrict in Bao’an District being downgraded to a low-risk area yesterday. So far, all areas in Shenzhen have been classified as low-risk for COVID-19, according to the news conference. The lockdown on Xiashiwei Village was also lifted midnight yesterday.

The apartment building was listed as a medium-risk area for COVID-19 on June 18, along with a lockdown on Xiashiwei Village, when a mild case of COVID was reported at the apartment building.

Bao’an District has reported no new locally transmitted case for 14 consecutive days since June 21 when the last confirmed COVID patient was reported, said Meng Jinjin, director of the General Office of the Bao’an District Government and Bao’an District CPC Committee.

Bao’an District will continue to supervise residents’ health situation in the village, according to Meng.

Starting today, Bao’an has also resumed dine-in services of catering businesses and operations of indoor entertainment venues, educational institutions and child-care centers, according to Meng.

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is expected to regain its full capacity within half a month, Lin Xiaolong, deputy manager of the Shenzhen Airport Group, said at the conference.
