People attend a ceremony held yesterday in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning Province, to mark the 84th anniversary of the beginning of China’s whole-nation resistance war against Japanese aggression. The July 7 Incident, or the Lugou Bridge Incident, on July 7, 1937 is recognized as the start of Japan’s full-scale invasion of China and China’s whole-nation resistance against the Japanese invaders. Official data shows that more than 35 million Chinese servicemen and civilians died during the war, accounting for nearly 8 percent of China’s total population in 1928.Xinhua |
