4 traffic violations exempted from penalties amid typhoon
    2021-07-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FOUR types of traffic violations can be exempted from penalties when heavy downpours or typhoons lash the city, according to the city’s traffic rules, Shenzhen Evening News reported.

Cars will not be punished for running on public bus lanes when roads get flooded.

When ports are closed for services, logistics trucks temporarily parked on vehicle lanes while waiting in lines can be exempted from punishment, the News report said.

In addition, no tickets will be issued to trucks that drive to forbidden areas or against traffic signals when making a detour from flooded roads, according to the traffic police.

Traffic police officers will also not issue tickets to cars that are parked in areas near parking lots, said the traffic police.

City traffic police will reserve temporary parking space for vehicles in areas surrounding flooded parking lots.

When encountering malfunctioning traffic signals, drivers should follow traffic police officers’ instructions and if there are no officers directing traffic, drivers should pass through slowly.

Due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Cempaka, some roads across the city were flooded Tuesday. It is said that more than 1,500 traffic police officers were dispatched to patrol on the road and help tow over 90 vehicles Tuesday.
