More rescuers from SZ join disaster relief efforts
    2021-07-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TWO more Shenzhen rescue teams followed in the footsteps of their colleagues and were dispatched to the flood-hit Henan Province on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, 93 motorboats sent from Shenzhen were expected to arrive in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan, yesterday and would be distributed for use to the surrounding villages, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Previously, two Shenzhen rescue teams reached the province’s frontline of flood control and disaster relief Thursday.

As of yesterday, the Shenzhen Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) Team and the Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation had sent a total of 79 rescue workers to join the emergency aid in Henan.

According to the Daily, the two rescue teams that set out from Shenzhen on Thursday are still fighting on the frontline in Henan’s Xinxiang City, mainly to transport trapped citizens and supplies.

The Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation had transported more than 100 people to safer places in two days, incomplete statistics showed.

Wang Changfu, leader of the Shenzhen BSR Team, on Saturday told the Daily that four BSR teams from Guangdong Province transferred more than 300 stranded people Friday.

A 15-member group with the Shenzhen BSR Team had carried 1.5 tons of rescue equipment and supplies including boats, communication devices and medical relief goods from Shenzhen to the province, according to Wang.

A group consisting of 34 rescuers from the Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation drove to Henan to carry out rescue operations Saturday afternoon.

Li Meizi, a staffer with the federation’s information command center, said that the rescue team mainly carried demolition equipment and epidemic prevention and disinfection supplies.
