Officers rescue injured pond heron
    2021-08-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

An officer holds an injured Chinese pond heron. A law enforcement team from Nanyuan Subdistrict in Futian District saved a bird unable to fly due to its injured wings among the traffic flow in Binhai Boulevard on Friday. The bird was later confirmed by professionals as a Chinese pond heron, a level-2 State protected animal. The officers soon took it back to their office to avoid another injury as the bird seemed to be hurt by the recent typhoon and transferred it to the city’s wildlife protection department that afternoon. Chinese pond herons are usually seen around waters like ponds, lakes, reservoirs and rice fields.   DT News
