Kaifeng classifies 7 areas as high-risk for COVID
    2021-08-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city of Kaifeng in Central China’s Henan Province yesterday classified seven areas as high-risk for COVID-19.

Seven villages in Zhuangtou Town, Kaifeng, were labeled as high-risk areas yesterday, and other areas in the town have been classified as medium-risk for COVID-19, according to the COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters in Kaifeng.

All of Weishi County, which administers Zhuangtou Town, has implemented closed-loop management and suspended contact with people outside the county to curb the spread of COVID.

Henan reported four locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kaifeng on Friday, the provincial health commission said Saturday.

The province recorded 49 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 87 locally transmitted asymptomatic cases between July 31 and Saturday in the latest resurgence of COVID-19, according to the commission.

Also yesterday, the National Health Commission said in its daily report that the mainland Saturday reported 81 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 38 were reported in Jiangsu, 24 in Henan, seven in Yunnan, six each in Hubei and Hunan, according to the commission.

Among the cases registered in Jiangsu, two were detected in Nanjing and 36 in Yangzhou. Since July 28, Yangzhou has reported 308 local cases, including 19 in serious condition and six in critical condition.

As the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 spreads, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports has urged all sports and fitness facilities to exercise stricter epidemic prevention and control measures.

A notice released by the bureau said that the number of people in sports facilities in Beijing is increasing with great and frequent personnel exchanges, which leads to severe challenges in epidemic prevention and control, especially in areas such as swimming spots, confined gyms and sports training facilities.

The notice further required sports and fitness facilities to strictly monitor the health status of employees and implement regular nucleic acid tests for employees, as well as environmental nucleic acid detection in the facilities. Personnel involved are also required to be fully vaccinated.

Other epidemic prevention and control measures include, but are not limited to, temperature checks, health code checks, reservation only, staggered entry, air ventilation, thorough disinfection, the notice added. (Xinhua)
