Shipping agent detained for breaking COVID rules
    2021-08-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A SHIPPING agent surnamed Wu, 38, was detained for five days for violating quarantine rules at the Yantian port area and police gave a warning to the shipping agency’s manager Chen, 51, according to a notice of Yantian police Sunday.

Police investigation showed Wu didn’t wear COVID-19 prevention clothing as required and was talking at close range with a sailor of an international freighter at the Yantian port area. Wu didn’t cooperate with the patrols when they reminded Wu to take precautions.

The Yantian disease control department then took Wu and his two close contacts to centralized quarantine. Two rounds of nucleic acid tests in two days showed their samples were negative.

Shenzhen police issued a notice Sunday on tackling violations and crime relating to COVID-19 prevention and control.

Those who come from overseas, or medium- or high-risk areas in China and those who are confirmed or suspected COVID patients and those who had close contacts or subclose contacts with people infected with COVID-19 will be held accountable for failing to cooperate with quarantine measures or hiding, withholding or lying about their situation or travel history.

Those who refuse to wear masks as required, reject temperature checks and information registration, or refuse to provide health codes when entering transport terminals, hospitals or shopping centers, quarantined or locked-down communities, workpalces or housing compounds will be investigated. The COVID infected cases, suspected cases, close contacts and subclose contacts who refuse to go through quarantine at home or centralized venues or escape during the quarantine period will be held accountable.

Those who live and work with close and subclose contacts but refuse to cooperate with the quarantine measures in their companies, institutions or their residential areas will be subject to punishment, according to the notice of Shenzhen police.

People who spread rumors to disrupt social order, forge and sell nucleic acid test results, manufacture and sell fake COVID-19 medicines, vaccines, shoddy protective materials and equipment, or scammers in the name of COVID-19 prevention and control will be criminally charged.
