SHANGHAI Shenhua beat Dalian Pro 4-2 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) while Tianjin Jinmen Tigers clinched a 3-1 victory over Beijing Guoan in Suzhou, East China’s Jiangsu Province, on Monday night. Christian Bassogog scored a brace in Shenhua’s convincing victory over Dalian. The Cameroonian’s first goal came after just three minutes following a rapid counterattack, before notching his second and Shenhua’s fourth in the 65th minute. Although a penalty converted by Lin Liangming and a free kick by Zheng Long helped Dalian equalize, Giovanni Moreno and Adrian Mierzejewski also scored for Shenhua to put the result beyond doubt. “We are very happy that we won the game with concerted efforts. We had good luck today and seized every opportunity,” said Bassogog. Meanwhile, midfielder Zhou Tong surged forward and launched a powerful volley to open the scoring for Tianjin in the 34th minute, though Guoan leveled when Zhang Yuning jinked past defenders in the box and slotted home in the 64th minute. Tianjin retook the lead through striker Shi Yan’s volley in the 80th minute, and sealed the points with a penalty in injury-time. (Xinhua) |
