684 new energy vehicles disqualified from subsidies
    2021-08-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A TOTAL of 684 new energy vehicles (NEVs) will be disqualified from the city government’s subsidies as they were found not registered in accordance with related policies, the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission said Sunday.

The commission received reports from the public on applicants’ wrongdoings after it had published the vehicle list for subsidies which sought public opinion from June 24 to July 2, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

After this, the commission immediately collaborated with the city’s traffic police authority to verify these reported cases.

During an investigation, 645 NEVs were found having changed their purpose of use from private use to for-profit services. The investigation shows that these vehicles have been registered for online ride-hailing service.

In addition, the applicants of another 39 NEVs were discovered as not being the real car owners.

Most of the applicants applied for the new purchase subsidy worth 20,000 yuan (US$3,086) while a few opted for the old-for-new subsidy ranging from 30,000 to 40,000 yuan, the Daily report said.

According to the notice released by the commission Friday, those who intentionally provided false information during application will be held accountable.

In order to support the development of NEVs, Shenzhen has issued measures to offer up to 40,000 yuan in subsidies per vehicle to individual NEV buyers.

The NEV subsidy applications ended June 30. However, qualified residents who haven’t applied for the subsidies still have a chance to submit their application via the city’s new energy car subsidy application platform before Sept. 30, according to the report.
