Young pianist to play classics
    2021-08-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Guangzhou pianist Shen Lu will play Beethoven’s “Variations in E-flat Major, Op. 35,” Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme of Paganini Op. 35, Book 1 and 2” and Chopin’s “24 Preludes, Op. 28” at a concert in Shekou.

Shen is acclaimed for his artistry, diverse repertoire and quietly charismatic performance style. According to distinguished pianist John O’Conor, “Shen’s interpretations have great depth, his technique seems effortless, and he communicates wonderfully with his audience.”

A laureate of numerous international competitions, Shen was awarded the gold medal of the 2014 Hilton Head International Piano Competition and the first prize of the 2002 Hong Kong Asia Open Piano Competition. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory in the United States and an artist diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music in the United States. He now teaches at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou.
