Night cabs

THE city’s transport bureau has renovated the bus terminal at the Western Square of Shenzhen North Railway Station into a cab zone, allowing regular cabs to pick up passengers from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily.

The right lane on Zhiyuan Central Road is also redesigned to allow cabs to pick up passengers.

The move is to solve vehicle congestion on the road around Shenzhen North Railway Station. The cab zone can handle 500 passengers in an hour.

Doctors awarded

SHENZHEN has unveiled 10 winners and 10 nominees for this year’s Shenzhen Doctors Award in celebration of the fourth Chinese Doctors’ Day, which fell Thursday.

Shenzhen had a total of 59,147 doctors including 55,716 practicing doctors and 3,431 physician assistants as of July 31, statistics from Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission showed.

There are 314 foreign doctors and doctors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who are engaged in short-term medical practice in the city.

Consumption season

THE monthlong Nanshan Sports Consumption Season was launched Wednesday, offering 100,000 sports coupons, valued at 20 million yuan (US$3.08 million), through the “南山文体通” WeChat miniprogram.

The coupons, consisting of 40,000 coupons used at sports venues and 60,000 coupons for sports products, can be used at 60 sports venues and 16 business centers and sports outlets in the district.
