Air quality

SHENZHEN ranked 8th among the country’s 168 key cities in terms of the air quality in the first seven months this year, according to information released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently.

Pingshan Library

PINGSHAN Library has won second prize at the Green Library Award, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) announced at last week’s IFLA World Library and Information Congress.

Pingshan Library was one of four out of 33 libraries from around the world that were shortlisted in May. The other three libraries were Australia’s Hobson City Library, Canada’s Edmonton Public Library and Slovenia’s Ormoz Library.

Premature baby

AFTER receiving treatment at Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital for over three months, a premature infant who weighed only 495 grams at birth, almost the size of an adult’s palm, was recently discharged from the hospital.

The child was born only after 159 days, and it is said to be one of the smallest babies of the same gestational age in the country by far.

Affordable housing

A TOTAL of 540 units of affordable housing in Longgang District will soon be available, Shenzhen Longgang Talents Housing Co. Ltd. said yesterday.

The affordable housing project, called Anju Huilong Yayuan, is the first housing project completed by Shenzhen Talents Housing Group Co. Ltd. and its subsidiary Shenzhen Longgang Talents Housing Co. Ltd. in Longgang.

Located at the intersection of Ping’an Road and Yanlong Boulevard in Longcheng Subdistrict, the project has a total 58,310-square-meter construction area consisting of two residential buildings and a kindergarten.

New school

THE campus of the Foreign Language School of the Education Group Attached to Shenzhen University will start operation in September, offering 1,500 admissions.

The school, located near Metro Line 5’s Tanglang Station and adjacent to Shenzhen University’s Xili campus, will enroll 500 Grade 7 students for the new school year.

Covering 18,000 square meters and with floor space of 28,000 square meters, the school will have 30 classes.
