Plan for care of next generation published
    2021-08-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN recently published the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for the care of the next generation in career development and the long-range objectives through the year 2035, which is said to be the first of its kind in the country, media reports said.

It is noted in the plan that Shenzhen will expand five types of elderly elite teams, specifically senior excellent cadres, veterans, experts, teachers and role models, to let them play a bigger role in nursing the next generation.

These seniors will participate in designing classes, delivering lectures for the young generation and organizing other related activities by utilizing their specialties in various fields.

The city is expected to gather 40,000 seniors who have made great achievements in their respective fileds by 2025, with 3,000 active participants in the city’s next-generation care work.

In addition, at least 100 lessons on topics such as Chinese history, law and various forms of moral education will be planned to help young people form a proper outlook on life and values and to guide them to make new and greater contributions to society.

History-themed tour routes including destinations such as the memorial hall in Songgang that commemorates the first Bao’an CPC Congress, Zhongying Street, Shenzhen International Trade Building and Tencent Building will be created to enhance young people’s learning experience.

In the next five years, at least 150 education practice bases for the care of the next generation will be inaugurated to conduct related events. Education events with different themed topics will also be held in schools across the city and be combined with key celebrations, according to the plan.

Meanwhile, the city will organize exchanges among youths from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao to enhance their understanding of the country’s history.
