New port

A NEW port linking the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Guangdong Province is set to be open Sept. 8, the Macao SAR Government Information Bureau said yesterday.

The new port, known as the Qingmao Checkpoint, will be open upon an approval by the State Council and discussions between the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Macao SAR Government, said the bureau. The new facility will operate round the clock.

Demonstration zone

A NATIONAL-LEVEL demonstration zone for continental shale oil was unveiled Saturday in Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, which aims to produce over 1 million tons of oil annually by 2025.

Covering 2,778 square km in the Songliao Basin and with designed horizontal well locations reaching 500, the zone will be the first of its kind in China with a target yearly output of over 1 million tons, according to Daqing Oilfield, a subordinate of the China National Petroleum Corp.

Civil air transport

THE civil aviation industry recorded solid growth in the first half of this year, official data showed.

In the first six months, the industry handled over 245 million passenger trips, a jump of 66.4 percent from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Transport.
