ROADS around schools are expected to be congested during the morning hours today as more than 2 million students will start the new term.

Police estimate peak congestion will arrive at around 7:20 a.m. Vehicles on the road between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. will reach 3 million, 10 percent more than the average during the summer holiday.

Congestion on roads around schools, especially Baihe Foreign Language School, Yuanling Primary School, Liyuan Primary School, Luoling Foreign Language School, Nanshan Foreign Languages School, and Nanshan No. 2 Foreign Language School, will worsen, police said.

Due to higher vehicle flow, checkpoint passing efficiency will be 12 percent lower, especially during rush hours between 6:50 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., and between 7:50 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. Vehicle efficiency for those entering through Meilin Checkpoint, Nantou Checkpoint and Fulong Road will be down by 60 percent from summer holiday traffic.
