FUHAI Subdistrict in Bao’an District formed its first international volunteer team Saturday to improve services at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center.

A meeting, which gathered over 60 representatives including overseas returnees, expats and foreign trade workers, was held to mark the establishment.

Since the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center was put into operation in November 2019, over 100 exhibitions have been held, which urgently require the professional international volunteer support.

In order to improve the international block services around the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, the subdistrict has sought out foreign language assistance from overseas returnees, English teachers, expats, college students and senior volunteers. So far, the volunteer team has 336 members, including eight expats, of which 70 percent has mastered at least one foreign language.

The subdistrict is also making efforts to improve the service level of its international volunteer team.

Fuhai is cooperating with the Translators Association of Shenzhen to conduct foreign language classes to improve volunteers’ English-speaking skills. Fuhai has also joined forces with Shenzhen Zhaohua International Exhibition Operation Co. to hold cultural activities such as Chinese and foreign cultural etiquette exchanges and English corners. In addition, it has invited Shekou’s international volunteer team to share their experiences.
