SHENZHEN Railway Police have recently imposed fines upon four people illegally flying drones near railways for three days in a row, Shenzhen Evening News reported. All the four people did not have unmanned aerial vehicle licenses and failed to inform related departments about the flights in advance. On Aug. 27, a man surnamed Liu asked policemen patrolling around Guangzhou’s Xintang South Train Station for help. He told them that he was using his company’s drone to take aerial photos of the company, but the drone fell to a nearby square because it ran out of battery. Since Liu had no license, he was fined 1,000 yuan (US$154.8). Police warn that low-altitude flying objects such as drones, kites and hot-air lanterns are banned from flying over railroad tracks within a 500-meter radius to avoid damaging railway electronic facilities. Violators would be punished according to related regulations. (Xia Yuanjie) |
