Man jailed for jeopardizing driving safety
    2021-09-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN surnamed Wei was sentenced to nine months in jail and fined 2,000 yuan (US$310) by Bao’an District People’s Court for jeopardizing driving safety, according to a report from Shenzhen Special Zone Daily yesterday.

This was Bao’an District’s first criminal case of jeopardizing driving safety since the Amendment XI to the Criminal Law, which added a new clause about jeopardizing driving safety, took effect this March.

Court investigation showed that e-bike driver Wei held a grudge after a Route 718 bus driver surnamed Xie honked, signaling for Wei to give way along the road in Xixiang on April 29. Wei accelerated his e-bike and waited for the bus 50 meters ahead. When the bus approached a bus stop, Wei picked up a brick and threw it to Xie, which damaged the bus windshield.

Wei was caught May 1 and his family compensated for the bus company’s loss for the damage he had caused.  (Han Ximin)
