Downdraft of typhoon

SHENZHEN is expected to have high temperatures today and heavy rains Friday and Saturday due to the downdrafts of Typhoon Conson and Chanthu, the 13th and 14th typhoons of the year.

Conson, which had reinforced into a tropical storm in the sea east of the Philippines on Monday, will not have impact on the city. It is moving towards the northwest at a speed of 10-15 kilometer per hour and will enter central and northern South China Sea today, according to the forecast of Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory.

Chanthu, which formed in the sea east of the Philippines on Tuesday, will also have no impact on the city.

New air route

FLIGHT DZ6255 of Donghai Airlines left Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport on Monday, carrying 143 passengers, marking the operation of the Shenzhen-Wuhu-Tianjin air route. Wuhu was the fifth destination that was added to the Shenzhen airport’s list of new destinations this year.

The daily flight leaves Shenzhen at 9:20 a.m. and arrives at Wuhu at 11:20 a.m. It takes off from Wuhu at 12:50 p.m. and arrives at Tianjin at 2:55 p.m.

Shenzhen Airlines also opened a route between Shenzhen and Wuhu yesterday. The flight ZH8429 leaves Shenzhen at 8:10 a.m. and arrives at Wuhu at 10:10 a.m. The return flight ZH8430 leaves Wuhu at 11:40 a.m. and arrives at Shenzhen at 2 p.m., providing more choices for travelers, according to Shenzhen Airlines.

Gastroenteritis risks

THE Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention has rated the city’s bacterial gastroenteritis risk as medium for a week from yesterday to Sept. 14, and the risk rating has also increased for infectious diarrhea caused by Salmonella and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.

The center reminds citizens to wash their hands before handling food and after touching raw meat and eggs, and to avoid eating undercooked meat, eggs and seafood.

Meeting of exchanges

THE World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) is holding its 60th general assembly and annual conference in Shenzhen from Monday to Thursday.

The assembly hosted by Shenzhen Stock Exchange is the highest level of WFE meetings. A total of 91 stock exchanges of the world’s major economies and 37 financial supervisory and regulatory organizations sent their senior executives to attend the four-day assembly.
