Escapees recaptured

THE Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) said Tuesday it has rearrested 114 inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kabba, Kogi State.

Daily Trust reported that some gunmen had attacked the facility Sunday night, where they freed over 200 inmates and killed a soldier and a police officer.

Peace academy

UGANDA, France and the United Nations on Tuesday signed an agreement to support the U.N. Academy for Peace Operations, a senior official has said.

Adonia Ayebare, Uganda’s permanent representative at the U.N., tweeted that the academy, based at Entebbe, 40 km south of the Ugandan capital Kampala, would be used to train U.N. peacekeepers to use unmanned aerial systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in peace keeping missions.

7 dead in plane crash

AT least seven people were killed when an executive plane crashed in a rural area of the Brazilian municipality of Piracicaba, in southeastern Sao Paulo state, the local fire department said Tuesday.

The deaths included the pilot, co-pilot and five passengers, all members of the same family, the Sao Paulo state fire department said.
