Foiled coup attempt

SUDAN’S Security and Defense Council on Tuesday announced the arrest of Major General Abdul-Baqi Hassan Osman, the leader of a foiled coup attempt.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Sudanese authorities announced foiling of a coup attempt carried out by a group of armed forces officers from the remnants of the former regime.

3 tons of heroin

OFFICIALS in India seized nearly 3 tons of heroin that originated in Afghanistan in the wake of the Taliban’s takeover of the country.

The drugs were valued at 200 billion rupees, equal to US$2.7 billion, and two people were nabbed in connection with the haul, Indian officials said Tuesday.
