Guangming begins work on its ‘green eco heart’
    2021-10-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE science park, a future comprehensive city park in Guangming District, started construction Wednesday. It is expected to be built into a “green ecological heart” in the north of Shenzhen, DT News reported.

This is one of Guangming’s 50 projects that were launched at a ceremony held in the science park’s location Wednesday. The projects cover various aspects, including three on industrial development, 14 on comprehensive transport, 11 on social life and 21 on city construction, with a total investment of 16.01 billion yuan (US$2.47 billion) and annual investment of 2.55 billion yuan.

The science park, covering a 208-hectare area, is scheduled to be completed in October 2023. The park has a total investment of nearly 1.5 billion yuan.

According to the design plan, the following will be built in the park: a 95,000-square-meter lake with banks extending 1.4 kilometers and a 32-kilometer slow traffic system with 11 kilometers for jogging and 3 kilometers for handmade hiking trails.

The park will also be equipped with sports facilities covering 68,000 square meters, which include children’s entertaining facilities, baseball fields, hockey fields, basketball courts, badminton courts, roller skating rinks and a water park.

The park will provide 2,108 parking spots in six parking lots, with four above ground and two underground.

The park will be a place to display the city’s technological, artistic and cultural achievements, which will also enrich citizens’ cultural activities and improve their life quality, said the report.

Cai Ying, head of Guangming District Government, suggested at the ceremony that these 50 projects, especially the science park project, are of utmost importance for the district to build itself into Shenzhen’s north center.

In addition to the science park, other projects include the second phase project of Hongqiao Park (also known as Red Bridge Park), Shangcun cultural and sports center, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenzhen Hospital new project, 5G high-performance material radio frequency and interconnected system industrial base, the community service research and development headquarters and an incubator center.  (Wang Jingli)
