SHENZHEN Bao’an International Airport handled about 150,000 passengers including 80,000 arrivals and 70,000 departures yesterday, the last day of the National Day holiday.

Return flights to Shenzhen, especially from hot tourist destinations in China’s northwestern regions, have been fully occupied, airline statistics showed.

During the holiday, a daily average of around 1,000 flights was recorded due to the surge of travelers. On some routes, the Shenzhen airport, through coordination with airline companies, deployed wide-body planes to satisfy holiday travel demand and ensure punctuality.

On Sept. 30, the day before the National Day holiday, the Shenzhen airport saw 153,400 passengers, a single-day record so far this year. The airport implemented strict anti-pandemic measures including temperature checks, health code checks, disinfection and nucleic acid tests for passengers returning from medium- and high-risk regions, while ensuring flight operations.

The two ferry routes linking Shenzhen Airport Pier, Zhongshan and Zhuhai carried about 1,500 travelers a day.

Shenzhen North Railway Station also witnessed 210,000 returning passengers yesterday. It operated 172.5 pairs of trains on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway and 138 pairs on the Xiamen-Shenzhen High-speed Railway to handle the surge of passengers.
