THE 2021 China National Computer Congress (CNCC) will take place at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District from Oct. 28 to 30.

The congress, known as China’s largest computer event, will be held in Shenzhen once again after 10 years, according to a press conference held at the Civic Center in Futian District yesterday.

“This is the great kindness of China Computer Federation (CCF) to Shenzhen, the recognition of the development of Shenzhen’s information technology industry, and a ‘vote of trust’ for Shenzhen’s overall innovative milieu,” said Wang You-ming, director of the Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Commission.

Wang said they earnestly hoped that the congress will gather the wisdom and strength of multiple parties, explore the development trends of science and technology, seek innovation-driven development, and promote the high-quality development of China’s information technology and digital economy industries.

Under the theme “Expediting Digital Transformation with Computing Empowerment,” CNCC 2021 will be attended by more than 600 top computer experts and entrepreneurs from home and abroad to present insightful reports focusing on different fields and topics.

The congress will also feature 18 invited lectures, three themed forums, 113 cutting-edge technology forums and a variety of activities and exhibitions, according to CCF secretary general Tang Weiqing.

Some of the heavyweight speakers include Turing Award laureates John Hopcroft and Barbara Liskov, five academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Yolanda Gil, former president of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.

“In consideration of epidemic prevention and control, we will moderately reduce the number of on-site participants to 6,000. In order to enable more people to benefit from CNCC, we will also open an online channel that can accommodate upwards of 20,000 online participants,” said Tang.

During the three-day event, one to two popular science activities will be publicly livestreamed free of charge on websites such as iQiyi and Bilibili. For online participants who have paid admission fees, 12 livestream events will be provided every day, and they can join the discussion upon admission.

CNCC, founded by CFF in 2003, has become the largest and most influential event in China’s computing industry and is held in different cities every year.
