THE first World Expo on Digital Agriculture (WEDA) will be held at the Shenzhen China Asia Convention and Exhibition Center (CACEC) in Bao’an District from Nov. 12 to 14.

The expo, with the theme “Mobilize All Things Digitally, Innovate Agriculture Intelligently,” is the first specialized exhibition in the digital agriculture sector approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), according to a news conference held Thursday at the Civic Center in Futian District.

The 1st WEDA will focus on establishing digital agricultural exchange platforms to promote investment and trade, according to the event’s organizers.

Meanwhile, key achievements on digital agriculture technologies will be displayed at the exhibition to dig up digital potential of agriculture and rural areas.

Other supporting events such as Sino-German Agriculture Week and China Agricultural Robot Competition will also be organized during the exhibition period.

Representatives of international organizations including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and United Nations World Food Program (WFP), those from Belt and Road countries, and related experts and guests will be invited to attend the expo.

“We are confident of the expo’s success because Shenzhen has strong digital industrial and technological foundations and policies to support the development of digital agriculture,” said Yang Shengjun, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, at the press conference.

Zhang Lubiao, director of MARA’s Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC), said WEDA is to promote the high-quality development of the international cooperation in agriculture, which is also essential for the country’s food security, rural revitalization strategy and digital rural construction.

WEDA is jointly organized by FECC, the Information Center of MARA, and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
